Our Larger Developmental Philosophy
What we believe: sexuality is intricately embedded in human development, thought, identity, and freedom.
Canada Online Therapy offers a bold, intellectually ambitious, clinically intimate, and highly distinctive private mental health practice so you can explore yourself sexually.
We believe sexual openness is an approach that is the bedrock of development. Sexual openness encourages joy, freedom of thought, self-awareness, critical thinking, emotional independence, ownership of the self.
We believe sexual openness is an approach that is bedrock a development that encourages freedom of thought, self-awareness, critical thinking, emotional independence, and ownership of the self.
In a culture as conservative as Canada, we offer a space where you can explore yourself sexually without fear, pressure, or judgement.
I find it quite interesting how we are never allowed to speak about the most important things in life, nor are we taught the most useful things in our education and healthcare systems, with sex and money being two of them.
Sex-and-Money
Sex and money are major parts of adult life and relationships, yet people have restricted opportunities to learn to discuss these hot topics openly, freely.
Sex is intricately related to money; money is intricately related to sex in partnerships and to how we see ourselves. Who we are in our partnerships are fundamental to our identity.
Canada Online Therapy appreciates how sex and money intersect with shame, power, dependence, identity, desire, partnership, personal freedom.
Individuals and couples who have been our clients report that they are able to work through difficulties that may not initially appear sexual to later discover that these difficulties are deeply connected to intimacy and agency. Our clients report gratitude for having a space to discuss these complex, sacred issues.
Process-over-Content
When you work with Canada Online Therapy, we encourage you to talk about difficult topics and your complex relationships to these topics.
What we notice in our work with you: shame, hesitation, bodily restriction, language, and your relationship to your own beliefs.
Progress is Measured through Process rather than Content.
We offer our observations that are usually confirmed by most clients.
Intense Attunement
What we do: we lend our attention and our own nervous-system awareness to offer you observations and establish baselines.
We assess with you, using our own sensory systems and our own bodies.
We lend this to you within our very short time together, we pay very close attention to how you talk about these topics. This intensely attuned level of listening models for our clients how to listen to themselves.
We listen beyond words.
We track how you speak, where restriction appears, and how your relationship to the material changes.
The progress within your sessions will be, as with the hundreds of other clients we have worked with, measured by your ease in talking about these topics. This is a natural indicator of how you think about these topics.
Observing how you speak, think, explore, and understand yourself with increasing ease is our success.
This clear baseline and observable form of change are defined outcomes our clients walk away with.
Internalized Self-Awareness, Critical Thinking
As we mark important baselines for how you're talking about things when you start talking about them in session, we track change.
What changes: clients become more articulate, curious, self-aware, emotionally independent, and able to possess their sexuality without shame.
Modelling self-listening makes the mechanism of therapy clear: clients internalize the quality of attention they experience from us.
Listening itself is healing.
Learning how to listen to yourself is a skill set most people do not master. Most people interrupt themselves, justify, defend or explain their feelings, thoughts, beliefs. Our space, allows you to explore without judgement.
We work under realistic constraints, usually within annual insurance plans.
If you are able to talk about important issues with ease at the end of our work, our work has been done.
So it's not so much the content that we talk about, but really the process by which you talk about things, and we want you to be comfortable talking about things to yourself and for yourself.
Sexual Freedom within an Ethical Framework
This is what we call self-awareness.
This is what we call critical thinking, and this is what a true education system should provide us: critical thinking, ease of thought, the ability to create, research, be intricately and intrinsically interested in our own thoughts, track our developments.
From this, we become very emotionally independent, from this, we become financially motivated.
We believe in freedom of thought and speech.
Our therapeutic goal is not approval of any particular sexual content, but increasing the person's capacity to explore, play, dream, talk, think, discover, understand themselves without becoming constrained by taboos, so long as this exploration is ethical and does not harm the person or others.
Measuring progress by how comfortably you can speak about something at the beginning compared with the end is concrete and definite.
Together, we explore sexuality without shame, develop ease in talking about taboo material, and observe that change across therapy.
We attain sexual freedom with self-awareness and ownership.
Our clients report that we move them from acceptance to exploration, to ownership, and then to sexuality as usable personal power.
Our clients fundamentally develop greater freedom and ownership of themselves, with sexuality being a fundamental place where their development occurs.
🩷
Canada Online Therapy believes sexual openness is part of a much larger developmental philosophy: freedom of exploration, critical thinking, self-awareness, emotional independence, ownership, ability to express without shame.
We actively track our clients’ restrictions, shame, hesitation, embodiment, and changes in their relationships to their own thoughts, feelings, and goals.
Therapy progress is measured not by which sexual material you discuss, but by the increased ease, freedom, and ownership with which you can discuss your desires and fears.
Permission to Exploration, Exploration to Ownership, Ownership to Power
That gives our work a clear process and outcome. Our work is transformative.
We actively help clients develop the language, freedom, and self-possession to understand their sexuality.
Clients report that they internalize our attention and learn to listen to themselves with the same depth we offer them.
🩷
Canada Online Therapy offers a kink-positive therapist. If you are searching for "How to find a kink-positive therapist?", "kink and poly friendly therapists" near you, or a "kink positive therapist" near you, you are in the right place. We offer a process in which increased ease, freedom, curiosity, articulation, and ownership become observable evidence of change.
We are not just a kink-positive.
We run on a much larger premise than simply “we accept kink.”
Canada Online Therapy's clients report developing voice, agency, emotional independence, and possession of themselves.
Clients gradually adopt the quality of attention we give them and learn to observe themselves with comparable depth. Our therapeutic mechanism lends clients our attention and sensory awareness as we track changes in speech and bodily restriction, establish a baseline, and measure their progress through increasing ease. Our clients internalize this quality of attention and learn to observe themselves with comparable depth.
We are a distinctive clinical mental health practice. We move our clients’ sexuality from silence and shame into language, exploration, ownership, agency, and usable personal power.
Sexuality is a power. Use it.

A kink-aware therapist is a mental health professional who understands, respects, and encourages sexual exploration, desires, and fantasies.
Most of all, a kink-aware therapist just accepts you for who you are, as long as you are not harming yourself or others.
A kink-aware therapist is not only a therapist who respects BDSM, fetishes, and consensual non-monogamy. A kink-aware therapist is one who understands and fosters normalization of talking about sex and your specific desires, accepting differences while also helping you discover your desires.
A kink-aware therapist provides a safe, non-judgmental environment to discuss your lifestyle. A kink-aware therapist will not pathologize your sexual preferences or assume your interests are the source of unrelated mental health struggles.
Why People Seek Kink-Aware Therapy
A kink-aware therapist's goal is to reduce shame and guilt around individualized sexual desires. A kink-aware therapist helps clients process and unlearn internalized shame or stigma surrounding their sexual desires.
A kink-aware therapist encourages communication with clients and respectful boundaries. A kink-aware therapist assists couples in negotiating boundaries, desires, and active, ongoing consent.
A kink-aware therapist encourages talking openly about relationship dynamics. A kink-aware therapist helps navigate the complexities of conventional and kink partnerships, as well as polyamory or ethical non-monogamy.
A kink-aware therapist treats childhood sexual trauma and abuse.
A kink-aware therapist helps process and heal from experiences of abuse while understanding the difference between healthy, consensual kink and actual trauma.
We believe everyone has a kink. It's not so much if you are kink, but what kink you might be brave enough to discover.
Life has limited pure joys. Let sex be one of them.
