Canada Life PSHCP Public Service Health Care Plan For Mental Health Services

Canada Life offers Public Service Health Care Plan, PSHCP psychotherapy coverage under the PSHCP, Public Service Health Care Plan. PSHCP, Public Service Health Care Plan is administered by Canada Life. Under PSHCP, Public Service Health Care Plan counselling, psychotherapy and mental health services are covered at 80%.

PSHCP, Public Service Health Care Plan allows for a maximum of $5,000 per family member in eligible expenses per calendar year for mental health services. This allows for approximately 25 sessions per family member for psychotherapy and counselling services.

Usually, a doctor's prescription is not required to access PSHCP, Public Service Health Care Plan benefits.

What is the Government of Canada Public Service Health Care Plan ?

The Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP) is a health insurance plan for federal public service employees, retirees, veterans, and their dependents. It is designed to cover eligible medical expenses and products that provincial or territorial health plans do not.
The PSHCP reimburses a majority of costs, typically around 80% for a wide variety of medical services.
Core coverage generally includes:

Vision care (eyeglasses and contact lenses)
Medical practitioners such as psychotherapists and RCTs
Medical devices and equipmentHospital provisions (covers costs in excess of standard ward charges)

Eligibility and Cost Sharing

Active Employees: The Government of Canada pays the full cost of Extended Health Care and Base Hospital coverage.

Employees only pay a monthly premium if they choose higher levels of hospital coverage.

Pensioners: Retirees and veterans share the cost of the plan with the employer, and monthly premiums apply.

Plan Administrator: The PSHCP is sponsored by the Treasury Board of Canada and is administered on a day-to-day basis by Canada Life.
